Barneys NY Launches New Mens & Women's Shoe Floor Full of Exclusive Designs

Jul 16, 2012 - by Samantha Lim

When it comes to luxury, Barney's New York just does it right. Today marks the opening of their new co-ed, 22,000 square foot designer shoe floor (the only one of its kind in America) and launches their marriage equality campaign "Perfect Pairs."

For the first time, the men's and women's shoes reside on the same floor, connected by a stunning walkway of luxe accessories and luggage by to-die-for brands like Balenciaga, Givenchy and Valextra. Barneys Creative Director Dennis Freedman and architecture firm Yabu Pushelberg designed the space with an open, minimal concept, and the results are an uber luxe, zen gallery of shoes. When it came to decor, they spared no expense: the seats are velvet, the walls are Italian marble and the floor is full of iPad stations with access to Barneys.com and their luxury content site The Window.

And as far as shoe floor rosters go -- this one is a killer. We're talking exclusive brands like Narciso Rodriguez and even more exclusive styles by Balenciaga, Giuseppe Zanotti and Maison Martin Margiela. While we were there, we spotted Debra Messing trying on a pair of exclusive to Barneys Givenchy boots.

For the men, this shopping experience is pretty big news.  Not only will they be able to shop for themselves while waiting for their lady friends, but they will also be able to shop both classic shoes and fashion shoes, which were formerly housed on separate floors. That way, the Christian Grey's of the world will be able to dabble their classic toes in a little Arfango  without feeling too fashion-y.  Exclusive brands include: Sergio Rossi, Alberto Moretti-Arfango, Battistoni, Endless, Harris, Officine Creative, Franceschetti and Bettanin & Venturi. Brands with exclusive styles include Christian Louboutin, Balenciaga, Prada, Balmain, Ferragamo, Givenchy, Lanvin, Tods, Churchs and John Lobb.

Phew. That took quite a breath. Be sure to get to Barneys this week because 10% of the sales on the shoe floor during Perfect Pairs, which runs through this coming Sunday,  will go to support the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and its Americans for Marriage Equality Program, so go get your shopping on!
