Behind McQueen's Beautiful 'Savage' Masks
May 16, 2011 - by Lester Brathwaite
Guido Palau, a longtime hair stylist for Alexander McQueen, didn't feel like wigging out so he created about 90 masks for the Costume Institute's Savage Beauty exhibit.
The masks, crafted from leather, jewels, burlap, lace, felt, fur and feathers, were meant to compliment the extraordinary pieces without overpowering them -- if that's even at all possible.
Palau wanted to do right by the late designer for whose shows hair was "always an important part." Finally, a Guido you can be proud of. [NYT]
