After reports stating designer Betsey Johnson will have a retrospective fashion show come September, the designer throws a glittery bash with equally eccentric attendants for her 70th birthday. 

Betsey Johnson turned 70 years old and threw herself a birthday party fit for a prom queen. The designer and her friends partied Friday night and the Barbie-esque bash had enough zebra print and sequins to last another 70 years. Betsey's reality-TV crew was on deck as they filmed scenes for her upcoming reality TV show Betsey + Lulu  with her daughter Lulu Johnson. Steve Madden got Betsey a rhinestone-encursted horse whip for her birthday and the cake was created by Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro Jr. 

The birthday made Betsey reminisce about her the closing of freestanding retail stores as the majority of which had to be shut down due to her company filing for bankruptcy.

It was so much more than a regular company. I really feel so happy about my career, she said. The people I worked with are my girlfriends for life. It was like one of those little bubbles that have glitter and [fake] snow inside when you shake them.

But the party was not all fun and games. Betsey was just out earlier in the day ironing out the details for her retrospective fashion show coming up in less than a month for New York Fashion Week and her new dress label partnered with The Levy Group.
