Usually fragrance spokesmodels are the sex that the perfume is selling towards, but this season Chanel is deciding to break the rules. The French fashion house will be the first to use a male to endorse their women's perfume and that male is none other than Brad Pitt.
Starting in mid-October, Chanel will be the first to prominently feature a man in their fragrance ads for a woman's perfume. Actor Brad Pitt will be the first male spokesmodel for Chanel No. 5 and we can't say we're complaining.
Starting out with a print ad and a commercial, Mr. Jolie-Pitt will speak about how he is seduced by a woman wearing Chanel No. And with the brand spending an estimated $10 million on advertising costs and $7 million on Brad, this is quite the expensive risk for the house to take.
The commercial directed by Joe Writght, will feature Pitt like he is talking to a woman, but then it will be revealed that he is talking to the fragrance. Wright has directed previous Chanel commercials for Coco Chanel starring Keira Knightley. The ad is slated to release on Oct 15th, while the ad will run in November fashion magazines.
If there were anytime to buy a fashion magazine now, it would be in November. Minus the traditional celebrity outlets that we can find pictures of our long-time crush Brad Pitt, it's nice to see the actor show off his aging beauty in a fashion publication. Thankfully, Angelina Jolie will be nowhere to be seen so when the commercial airs, so we can imagine that Brad's talking directly to us. But a girl can only dream.
