My favorite look of the evening came by way of Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway: each a sparkling tower topped with broadening shoulders. The emerald vision of Atelier Versace on Angelina gathers at the waist for a 30's reminiscent silhouette, while Armani Privé on Anne Hathaway gets it straight all the way down. Long, luminous dark tresses lay over the shoulder, down, sleek like the dresses themselves. Perhaps it's a dark-haired siren kinda thang. From the front they look perfectly demure, but from the back...

...it's more of a seductive story. The hint of back from Angelina is enough for us to see her inked stripes of words. The deep, almost bum-baring scoop from Anne Hathaway gives us a hint the skin she shows in Love and Other Drugs. Both the dress and the film done in sexcellent taste.

Leighton Meester attempted the look in Missoni, but didn't nail it quite like Anne & Ange. It's almost there, but the shoulders only half commit to the broadness, and the lack of glimmer leaves her less than luminous. The muted neutrals wash her out on the carpet, and I vote open back over thigh high slit.
