@Burberry Celebrates the #ArtOfTheTrench In Chicago

Dec 12, 2012 - by Emily Draznik

While Chicago may be a little windier than NYC, we headed down to the Midwest mecca to celebrate the opening of the new Burberry flagship on the Magnificent Mile.

Chicago is known for many things; their inner city rivalry between the Cubs and the Sox, a signature style of hot dog, and the summer music takeover known as Lollapalooza. While all of those things are amazing on their own, Chicago recently experienced a revolutionary fashion takeover. This time the Brits added their own spin onto Chicago fashion with the opening of the brand new flagship for Burberry on Michigan Avenue.

Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey and the star studded crowd fêted Chicago's release of their collaboration with the Art of the Trench series. Featuring local tastemakers and prominent business people styling their own trench coat in a photo series, the collaboration was added to Burberry's social media platform that celebrates the iconic Burberry trench coat.

At the event, guests enjoyed performances by Carl Barat from The Libertines and a live DJ set by DJ Matt Roan. The new store features the first Burberry beauty in-store consultation counter in the Americas and also features the Burberry Retail Theatre Concept. This enables live events to be streamed on the store's interior digital screens and further solidifies their top ranking Digital IQ Index score.

With Burberry arguably adding the most beautiful structure on Michigan Avenue, hopefully the rest of the designer world will take note and realize that Chicago has a lot more to offer than hot dogs.
