WWD is reporting this morning that Versace's sister line Versus is parting with Scottish designer Christopher Kane. With this news breaking directly after Kane denied Balenciaga Creative Director rumors, could this just be a coincidence? 

Christopher Kane has been working with Donatella Versace and her label Versus since 2009. Now Women's Wear Daily is reporting that the Italian brand has set a new path for the label, but one without Scottish designer Kane.

The first thing that popped into our minds when we heard this news regarded the strange timing that this departure has taken place during. Just last weekend, Christopher Kane denied that he was becoming the Creative Director of Balenciaga. But now that we know that he's leaving Versus, does this make the denied rumors true?

Versus is reportedly parting ways with Kane to create a season-less line with a number of young unnamed designers who will create capsule collections for the brand. The decision came by a mutual agreement between the company and Kane.

With such a void opening up in Kane's schedule, we can only speculate that the denied rumors of his succession to Balenciaga are true. Quotes addressing the rumors of Kane heading Balenciaga have yet to come from PPR's team as of now, so only time will tell as to who will get to fill Nicolas Ghesquière's shoes at Balenciaga. Although you can now officially consider us on team Christopher Kane.
