Designer Daily: Yasmin Bawa

Dec 22, 2011 - by Jessica Lapidos

Through deft tailoring, intricate handmade prints and a key focus on Giacomo Ballas Futurist Manifesto of Mens Clothing, Yasmin Bawa is seeking to find and create balance in menswear. Her printing techniques are new to the industry; she uses light sensitive emulsions to expose her prints directly onto the fabrics. Yasmin Bawa's Autumn 2011 collection entitled "He Shall Be a Peacock" takes the stance that men shouldn't restrain from color, from new cuts on beautiful patterns. In her Spring 2012 collection, "he didn't care and neither did she..." she dips a toe in womenswear, taking her prints to more feminine silhouettes, but with a great irreverent sense of humor.
