Designer duo Richard Ascott and Philip Colbert are Rodnik. With their signature parasols and quirky, flirty designs, they were quickly launched to a respectable status in May 2006 after sweeping through several New York parties. Design, however, was not their first goal. They happened upon the idea while on a spur of the moment trip to Russia where they found themselves inspired by the folklore and local art. The name Rodnik came from a fairy-tale store supposedly opened by a princess some 100 years ago.
Their last collection was for the Fall/Winter 2007 season, the clothing was made from luxurious fabrics, cut and sewn into very structured silhouettes to enhance the figure and create an essence of energy and fun. The prints as well were added to make subtle changes in shape and form. The collection did not go unnoticed, Sienna Miller was quick to grab up one of their dresses for a red carpet event.
