Brooklyn-based designer Mary Meyer earned a degree in painting from the California College of the Arts, but also explored printmaking, weaving, dying, welding and woodwork. She held on to that love for working with textiles and started out custom-printing tees and dresses. Her clothing is now kinda-cute, kinda-streetwear, many with a giant single print. Her pieces, many of them oversized, have simple shapes that make for breezy summer wear.

I see a very mild Native American influence in the logos of Mary Meyer's Spring 2009 collection, but the overall style of the line of harem pants and "biggie" tees is like a toned-down M.I.A. or Karen O.
