Dianne VS Anna: Who's More Powerful?

Aug 23, 2012 - by Emily Draznik

Well according to Forbes, Dianne Von Furstenberg ranks higher than Anna Wintour  on the annual list of  "The World's 100 Most Powerful Women".

Dinne Von Furstenberg is the President of the CFDA and Anna Wintour is the editor-and-chief of American Vogue. Both ladies hold extreme power in the fashion industry, but you would think that a woman who can start New York's Fashion's Night Out and host a fundraiser with Obama would rank pretty high on the "Power" list, but nope. Dianne comes in right after Beyonce as the 33rd most powerful woman in the world, while Anna is at 51.

Dianne's fashion label reportedly made $200 million in revenue last year and she is married to the media mogul Barry Diller. According to the magazine, who cited Furstenberg's 4 consecutive terms as president of the CFDA, her collaborations with Roxy and Evian, and her label's sky-high revenue as some of the reasons as to why she is ranked so high on the list. While Wintour is placed in the "Media" category and Furstenberg resides in "Business", we're guessing that Forbes places more importance on those in the business realm rather than in print or media.

Ironically even though Wintour's description calls her the "most powerful woman in fashion", Furstenberg still reigns champion. We will have to wait and see as to what Wintour's move is next because we have one more year to see if Wintour can out "power" Furstenberg and climb up the Forbes list once again.
