Dolce & Gabbana Hits the Playground with Kiddie Couture

Dolce & Gabbana essentially scaled things down for its first children's collection launching in July.

Its a miniature version of our signature line, Stefano Gabbana told WWD. To wit, boys and girls -- from newborns to age 10 -- can play dress up in tuxedos, chiffon, leopard prints, cashmere capes and bouclé tweed.

The collection will include all childhood essentials from underwear to beachwear, accessories to shoes and -- in a nod to their proud Italian heritage --  baptismal attire.

The D&G duo did their homework to make sure the pieces were not only adorable but functional. We interviewed all the mothers because the collection must be practical." said Domenico Dolce. "We learned a lot, plenty of details. For example, its better to have sleeveless onesies and freedom of movement kids dont want to feel too constricted."

I don't know about kids, but I love me a sleeveless onesie. Check out some of the preciousness in the gallery below. [WWD, sub req'd]
