Feel Good Friday: Get Skinny, Help the Children

Nov 09, 2012 - by Jessica Lapidos

Imagine combining jazzercise/Zumba with emotionally empowering psychotherapy. It's super IntenSati. You'll sweat your tits off and still feel like more than million bucks about who you are as a human, what awesome things you're accomplishing, and how free you are. Some gals are trying to bring this workout to kids, and school them about healthy foods. Get your sneaker heels on, and see how you can jump in.

patricia moreno, healthclass2.0IntenSati founder Patricia Moreno is giving a special class with giveaways and prizes on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, 11/27 to benefit HEALTHCLASS 2.0. Shout things like, "I am creative! I am free! I do what I love!" and so on. It feels gooood.

Since public funding for phys. ed. and creative classes has been cut, this organization delivers these classes with health awareness to underprivileged schools around New York City.

New School (as in Parson's parent school) professor Natalia Mehlman Petrzela and Ellen Gustafon are training college kids to teach these classes and become agents of positive change.

The classes for kids involve one part IntenSati, one part locally sourced snack from BluePrintJuice and other food donors, and one part discussion about personal choices, and the struggle to find fresh food.

The fundraising class costs $50 at the door, but if you want to help raise more money for this awesome cause, join the Crowd Rise movement.
