How To Stay Comfy on a Long Plane Ride
Nov 03, 2011 - by Danika Daly
Traveling is exciting, but the actual plane ride can kill the thrill for a few hours. An international flight can be pure torture if you're not prepared with the proper supplies and a comfortable outfit. In celebration of FashionIndie's travel month, here's how to stay comfy on an international flight - even if you're flying coach.
In order to create your temporary home for the next several hours, you will need the following essentials: sleep mask, noise-cancelling headphones, blanket/pillow set, snacks, an iPad loaded with movies and music and books and magazines in case your iPad battery dies.
What to Wear
Traveling in pajamas or sweatpants is just unacceptable. You can be cozy and stylish at the same time. Wear pants you can move around in and a crisp white t-shirt. Add a blazer or cape and scarf to dress it up. Note: bring flats for the flight.
Your Humble Abode
It may be difficult to create a comfortable space without having actual space. Before you board the flight, ask the gate agent if there are any empty rows. These are usually in the back of the plane.
Lay out your blanket and pillow, pull down the aisle seat tray table for your mini library, and put your headphones on to block out the sound of crying babies.
Use your scarf or sleep mask to block out the light if you're going to sleep. The person behind you will most likely leave their reading light on the whole flight, it never fails.
Have your entertainment in your carry-on under the seat so you can access it without any trouble. If tall enough, it can double as an ottoman.
