The Story of Hurricane Sandy Told Through Instagram
Oct 29, 2012 - by Emily Draznik
Today in the modern world if you don't Instagram it, it didn't happen. Hurricane Sandy is no exception. A new blog called Instacane takes you through every Instagrammed moment from the preparation to the evacuation of the biggest storm to hit the East coast in years.
For those of us who are safely cuddly and dry in our Midwestern beds, Hurricane Sandy is no more than just a reoccurring theme on our East Coast friend's Twitter accounts. But for our friends in New York City and neighboring states, Hurricane Sandy is proving to be a real b*tch.
For those who are not on the East coast, it is a little difficult to imagine a hurricane right now. Thankfully the blog Instacane has taken all of the Instagram photos that are #HurricaneSandy or #frankenstorm and put them all in one place.
Documented in a truly modern format. Instacane is uploading in real-time (and through a Valencia filter) photos of the hurricane hitting the east coast. So as long as iPhone's have battery power, you can receive updates on what the heck is going on outside thanks to your tech-savvy friends. In the meantime, we hope and pray that everyone in New York has stacked up on extra food, supplies, and batteries and are safe inside of their homes.
If you're going to be stuck for awhile with work and school closed, then we suggest you make a dark and stormy drink to get yourself a little toasted after your power cuts out and you have nothing else to do.
