Isn't Basel an Herb? and Other Questions from an Art Miami Newbie
Dec 04, 2012 - by INDIE
If you follow us on social, you already know that we're living it up in Miami. Not only did we come here to celebrate the taking back of Fashion Indie, we are here to attend some major industry events at Art Basel.
From Dec 6th to 9th, Miami will see its 11th edition of Basel, the most prestigious and talked about art show in the Americas. The exhibits showcase some 2000 artists, and the fashion industry has definitely taken notice, hosting parties and pop-up shops throughout the events gallery shows.
Art Basel's history dates back to 1970, when a city in Switzerland called Basel held the first 'Olympics of Art.' In less than 3 years, the event became the largest art show in the world, finding it's way to Miami over a decade ago. Last year, the owners signed an agreement with Asian Art Fairs to purchase a majority stake in the Hong Kong fair ART HK. We are planning a trip to Hong Kong already.

We are most excited about private events with Christian Louboutin at their flagship, a Chanel BBQ hosted at The Soho Beach House, Charlotte Olympia in collaboration with artist Boyarde at Neiman's, Clover Canyon and artist Alexandra Grant at Scoop, and DJ Tiesto partying it up with Guess. I didn't bring enough clothing to take me from event to event, but luckily I have a rented convertible that will make me cool enough to trick some paparazzi into believing I'm someone important.
