Justin Bieber Not Interested in Men...When It Comes to Fragrances

Jun 19, 2012 - by Lester Brathwaite

On the sneaker heels of his wildly successful "Someday," pop tart Justin Bieber launched his second fragrance, "Girlfriend," at Macy's Herald Square flagship yesterday. However, don't expect the 18-year-old flash-in-the-pan to build an eau du empire of J. Lo-ian proportions.

We wanted to make a fragrance for my female fans I dont know whats going to happen from here, though. At the moment, Im not interested in making a mens fragrance, Bieber told WWD, neglecting the swathe of future To Catch a Predator contestants who'll have to satisfy their Biebermania with "Girlfriend"'s sparkling pear, crisp mandarin and rich blackberry top notes.

"Someday" was the biggest fragrance launch of last year, netting some $39 million in sales. A portion of the proceeds went to charity under the Give Back Brands label, which was recently acquired by Elizabeth Arden, though "Girlfriend" will continue in that tradition with sales benefiting Pencils for Promise.

"The whole point of the fragrance was to give back and add a charitable component to my fragrance. Thats why we teamed up with Give Back, Bieber said.

Over 200 Beliebers camped out in front of Macy's Sunday night to be the first in line to get free tickets -- with the purchase of a $168 "Girlfriend" bundle -- to a private concert Monday night at the Apollo. Tickets were only available for the first 500 people who also got a copy of the singer's new album, Believe, for their troubles.

Speaking of said new album, Bieber claimed his latest opus was "inspired by different things" he's gone through. "Over the past couple years, there are things I want to talk about even with Mariah claiming that she had my baby. I wanted to be able to talk about that with my album."

The pop sensation was talking about Mariah Yeater and not, as I had initially thought, this. [WWD, sub req'd]
