Kenneth Cole sent a Tweet earlier today that's got the Twitterverse in an uproar. The designer poked fun at the sensitive social issue in Cairo to promote his new spring line. Too soon? Um... yeah.

After thousands of seething Tweet backlashes, Kenneth Cole removed his offensive post. He also offered the following apology on his Facebook page:

I apologize to everyone who was offended by my insensitive tweet about the situation in Egypt. Ive dedicated my life to raising awareness about serious social issues, and in hindsight my attempt at humor regarding a nation liberating themselves against oppression was poorly timed and absolutely inappropriate."

Facebook apology, eh? Classy.
