Lana Del Rey vs Cheyrl Cole: Who's the Original Gangster?

Aug 10, 2012 - by Emily Draznik

British singer Cheryl Cole recorded the single "Ghetto Baby", penned by self-proclaimed gangster Nancy Sinatra, Lana Del Rey for her upcoming LP A Million Lights. The Cheryl version of the track surfaced last June, but the original demo has leaked and it's created a battle royal between Lana's original vs the Cole.

Lana Del Rey  is a singer famous for her sultry sound and vintage style. The British singer, Cheryl Cole noticed her about a year ago and expressed interest in her musical stylings. The Girls Aloud star put "Ghetto Baby" on her LP A Million Lights and recently the Lana version has surfaced. Lana is set to re-release the "Paradise" version of Born to Die with seven new tracks in November.

Cheyrl Cole is a British pop singer and member of girl band Girls Aloud. If you already listened to the Lana Del Rey version of "Ghetto Baby" above, then it is apparent who the title of "original gangster" goes to. While Cole's version isn't terrible, when compared to Lana's it sounds like a blatant knock-off of the sultry crooner's style.

As previously mentioned, Miss Del Rey is re-releasing her album Born to Die in November of this year. 4/7 of the new tracks have already leaked and now you can take a listen to the three joining "Ghetto Baby".

"Serial Killer"

"Summer of Sam"

"Ooh Baby"
