Louis Vuitton Dotting Globe with Pop-Up Stores
Jun 25, 2012 - by Lester Brathwaite
Louis Vuitton is saying d-d-d-d-dot's all folks with a series of pop-up stores around the world celebrating its latest collaboration with artist Yayoi Kusama.
The first of these pop-up stores will take place in Vuitton's SoHo boutique on July 10, followed by others inside or near Vuitton stores in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo, finally culminating in two large-scale shops at the Printemps flagship in Paris and Selfridges in London on August 23-24.
These temporary stores will be open for about four to eight weeks and sell products from the limited-edition Kusama collection including trenchcoats, silk pajamas and polka-dot purses. Though the house has collaborated with artists before, this is the first time Vuitton has fully-dedicated multiple concept stores to the resulting line of products.
All 463 Louis Vuitton stores will also sell the Kusama collection with a second wave of products dedicated to the 83-year-old Japanese artist's "nerves" motif slated for October 1. Printemps and Selfridges, however, will exclusively carry the Monogram Nerves bags when they launch in August. [WWD, sub req'd]
