Minnie Mouse Gets a Makeover for London Fashion Week
Aug 17, 2012 - by Emily Draznik
The polka dots, white gloves, and of course those yellow heels, these are the signature elements of style icon Minnie Mouse and the Spring 2013 London Fashion Week is taking notice. The tiny toon is getting a collection inspired by her style and it's going to be created by famous designers like Giles Deacon and Piers Atkinson.
During the Spring 2013 shows at London Fashion Week, the Minnie-Mouse Must-Haves Collection will debut featuring top British designers. Vogue U.K. reports that the likes of Giles Deacon, Richard Nicoll, Katie Hillier, Michael van der Ham, Piers Atkinson, Bunney, Terry de Havilland, and Husam de Odeh with Luke Hersheson will all be contributing a piece to the collection. All pieces will then be auctioned on eBay to benefit the Fashion Arts Foundation, so if you have the extra coin you can own a piece from the Disney vault yourself
Recently, we have started to see an influx of Disney inspired fashion and we're loving it. With Disney couture princesses, lingerie inspired by the royal animated ladies, and a pair of Christian Louboutins inspired by Cinderella, Minnie Mouse is getting a well deserved high fashion makeover. Designer duo Meadham Kirchoff is even taking the theme to a new level by devoting their entire Spring 2013 collection to the mousey ingenue.
Disney is also going to be releasing a princess inspired collection for Sephora and Barneys also has a Disney inspired holiday collection approaching. Now aspiring to be like Jasmine or Belle is not just for little girls anymore, but the adults are getting a second chance at reliving their youth. Looks like that wish upon a star paid off big time.
