In a city where woman are often portrayed as wearing giant sunglasses, Juicy Couture tracksuits, and carrying around tiny dogs, Summers look really stands out and shows a different style that can be found on the streets of LA. Her look could be described as modern-retroand has a wardrobe mixed with new and vintage pieces. Zooey Deschanels character is always seen wearing something blue, which costumer Hope Hanafin says was inspired by the color of Zooeys eyes.

This was done purposefully, as to make her character stand out to the audience, since nobody else is seen in that color. This color trait is also something that Joseph Gordon-Levitts character Tom associates with Summer, when you see that everyone is wearing blue in the dance sequence the night after Summer and Tom hook-up.

I absolutely loved the costumes throughout the filmespecially how adorable Tom looked in his sweater vests, skinny ties, suits, and graphic tees. Style definitely played a big role in the movie and storyline. It even added charm to Summers unlikable qualities, which allows you to understand why Tom could be infatuated with her, even though shes not everything he thinks she is.
