The New York Times chronicles the rise of Nicki Minaj as a style icon; from "making dresses in her basement" to donning Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci to the 2011 Grammy Awards to being a guest of Vogue editrix Anna Wintour at Carolina Herrera's spring 2012 fashion show. Minaj, however, has yet to attain the true testament to style-iconery -- the coveted cover of Wintour's precious publication. But according to the raptress' manager, she's "in talks with the magazine."

If the talks prove succesful, Nicki Minaj would -- correct me if I'm wrong -- be the first rapper on the cover of Vogue. A lthough god knows Gwyneth Paltrow's been known to drop a hot verse in her day.
