As with any accessory, women buy rings to reflect their personalities and individual style. After stopping by Fragments Boutique in SoHo, I got the chance to work with wonderful jewelry expert Beth Bernstein, author of  new memoir "My Charmed Life," and find some truly fun, unusual rings that are sure to make a statement.

The past was all about simple, feminine rings, but today the jewelry industry is picking up speed. "Women of all ages know it's okay to buy rings for themselves," Bernstein said. "In addition, jewelry and fashion are very linked together [in color and style] today, more than ever. Fine jewelry designers can be influenced by the 20s jazz age or the more hard edged rock and roll looks or even the colors we have been seeing on the runway in their choice of the palette of gemstones."
