The Queen hails McQueen! Sarah Burton is among the honorees for this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List, receiving an Order of the British Empire for her services to the fashion industry.

Having designed one of the most iconic dresses in recent memory, the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding gown, Queen Elizabeth naturally saw fit to bestow an OBE on Alexander McQueen's celebrated creative director.

Also making the Queen's list are Oscar-winner Kate Winslet  and Mulberry's Emma Hill, who will both receive a Commander of the British Empire (CBE), as well as actor-director Kenneth Branagh, who will be awarded knighthood. [Guardian]
