Secrets to Packing for a Road Trip to the Unknown

Jul 12, 2012 - by Jessica Lapidos

Packing for the relative unknown for a long period of time in a limited amount of space can seem daunting. Want to know my secret to packing a versatile set of useful, colorful vestments that will create a different outfit every day for a fashionable month on the road

LAY IT OUT:  Instead of thinking of it as an arduous task, embrace the beauty of laying out your clothes flat in front of you. Scatter your jewelry over your clothes! It should look more like a Polyvore set than just piles of stuff to pack.

CREATE A COLOR PALETTE: Each hue should match one another. You want to maximize your options by making sure everything can be worn with any other thing. My color palette is in the pink/orange/yellow/cerulean blue/mint family. What would yours be?

ARRANGE BY PROPORTION: Seeing it layered all together flat [tops on top, bottoms down below] will let you know what type of silhouettes you need more of, and what you can do without. You don't need more than one item of the same shape and texture.
