Stella McCartney Wins the Olympics

May 11, 2011 - by Jessica Lapidos

Stella McCartney has been tapped by Adidas to be the Creative Director for the 2012 British Olympic team. What an enormous and exciting task! She'll be designing all the uniforms  for the athletes, and even the clothing they'll be wearing around the Olympic Village. As her hometown of London will be hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics, Stella McCartney will be as good as gold. See the uniforms from 2008, and a taste of what they will look like here:

Imagine next year's Olympic Brits as a fusion of the uniforms at the 2008 games (boring) and what Stella's up to at Adidas now.

I think we can expect more body conscious streamlining of colors, mixed with some of the most technologically advanced materials on the planet. In 2008, the cuts were rather boxy and uninventive. Stella however, has a knack for accentuating the athletic body with a combination of textures seaming along the contours.

Now we'll see if better uniforms will help their standing on the winner's podium.
