Thom Browne Fall 2012 Proves a Point

Feb 16, 2012 - by Jessica Lapidos

Last season, Thom Browne dropped our jaws with the longest proportions, elongating the limbs and our whims to wear a shirtdress that just doesn't graze the ground if you're a 6'1" woman. This season, he proves a different point, the point of accentuating the natural curves of the body with angular shapes. He brings the waist in with diamond seams, and the shoulders, breasts, hips and knees outward with structured cloth pyramids. He also ponders death and rebirth as models rose out of 10 coffins laying before the audience at the New York Public Library. Was it premonitions of the front-row death of Zelda Kaplan? Likely not, but the collection was drop dead inspiring.
