Uye Surana is a New York Made Delicacy

Aug 21, 2012 - by Jessica Lapidos

In limited quantities, with a topping of fabric ruched like air, Uye Surana summons a soft flow, and often asymmetry for its lovely wearers. But beneath the delicate surface lies a the tough interior of leather underthings. The creator and designer Monica Wesley is a lady in the street, and a freak in the studio.

Okay, her lingerie isn't that salacious. It's actually refreshing to see leather with such a cute ruffle 'round the edges in her newest piece she just posted on her blog.

Monica Wesley's familial ties to the brand's name Uye Surana is as obscure as the visibility of leather through her dainty designs. It's a fusion of her parent's maiden and pre-anglicized last names. It well embodies her desire through design to bring her clothing back to a well made beautiful basic.
