When Ann Taylor Challenges CFDA/Vogue Finalists, Everyone Wins

Dec 06, 2010 - by Lester Brathwaite

Ann Taylo r celebrated the opening of their gorgeous new concept store on Thursday in the Flatiron District designed by S. Russell Groves. My colleague and hetero life-mate Josh Linam and I stormed Fifth Ave to check out the new digs and also designs from the finalists of CFDA/Vogue's Fashion Fund Design Challenge. Photos beloooooow.

The 10 unique finalists designed career wear looks that represent Ann Taylors mission to create chic, relevant wear-to-work styles for todays modern man or woman.  The finalists included: Joseph Altuzarra, Billy Reid, Christian Cota, Eddie Borgo, Gregory Parkinson, Oliver Helden and Paul Marlow of Loden Dager, Moss Lipow, Pamela Love, Prabal Gurung and Robert Geller.

Billy Reid walked away with the top prize for this perfect ensemble that combines his classic Southern aesthetic with Ann Taylor's clean, business-casual chic:

The shirt was a cool, modern take on the simple white T, but the outfit was made by those wonderful suspenders. Check out the gallery for some of the other designs, my personal favorite being the shirtdress from Gregory Parkinson.
