Who Needs Grandma? This Rocking Chair Knits Hats while You Rock
Nov 12, 2012 - by Jessica Lapidos
I've recently discovered that knitting is one of the most relaxing yet fashion savvy things one can do. But some students in Switzerland have invented an even more relaxing way to do it. While I've been flicking and flitting yarn and sticks around my hands making hats for Hurricane Sandy victims in the Rockaways, this chair knits beanies simply by rocking in it.

When challenged to reinterpret the idea of manufacturing, University of Art and Design Lausanne students Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex created this rocking knitter. Now part of ECAL's "Low-Tech Factory" exhibition in Langenthal, Switzerland, the rocking knitter sits awaiting heads to purl down upon.
This brings a whole new meaning to Granny Chic.
Would you rock it?
