You're So Over and Done, Christian Louboutin

May 28, 2008 - by Rebecca Alexander

With all these devoted celeb clients, you would think that I would be head over heals (pun intended) for this mainstream designer.

Well you thought wrong, indies.

I despise his shoes. At 800 bucks a pop, these are the most uncomfortable, over-priced bunion makers you can find. The only thing that separates them from the rest of the expensive footwear out there is their red bottom (which you can paint on yourself if you're really that desperate for attention).

Don't get me wrong, the man is a genius, very intelligent and super polite. So, I have nothing to say against the designer, just his shoes.

At Fashion Indie, we like to give praise to all those amazing indie designers doing their thing and competing with the big boys. There are soo many shoe designers out there who actually "love" women and try to create shoes that comfort them, not torture them, so why would any sane person spend money on a pair of mary janes that looks like every other mary jane?  Especially if said mary janes are designed to cause more pain than pleasure.

Christian Louboutin is over and out. If you still buy these/love these/need every pair or pray for the day when you can afford them, you are an idiot. The shoes are uncomfortable, overpriced and people who wear them look like they are desperate for attention (we all know you spent a lot on them and that doesn't make you cool). If you insist on buying a pair keep in mind that the look is already over. The red sole is over, hell even Martha Stewart is painting hers black, and since that was the only thing that made Christians different, it's only a matter of time before the collection suffers and prices go down in our pre-recession era.

Skip the Louboutins. We know we will.
