Praise The Lord and Pass The Mascara

An Italian priest is hosting an unconventional beauty pageant for nuns this September called “Miss Sister 2008.” Not to be mistaken wiht Miss Sister Italy.  This sacred-with-only-a-touch-of-the-profane event shows that nuns can be beautiful as well as beatific. The good father assures the public that there will be no swimsuit competition.

What about a talent show? Will someone be chosen for miss spirituality? Miss heavenly body? Most prayful? And what’s the payoff for the winner? An all expense paid trip to the Vatican? Does she travel the world as a goodwill ambassador for the Catholic church? We’ll see the true side of how these sisters act when they strut there God-given stuff before the judges (and the Big G-man upstairs). To this we say, “Amen!”

Story by yael friedman

Yael Friedman is a Brooklyn gal, born and bred. She established herself as a fashion pro at an early age when she turned old socks and holey gloves into chic Barbie wear. Her family doesn't leave the house until Yael approves their sartorial selections. She speaks a decent English, a nasty trash, and has tried Spanish and Hebrew, to no avail. That's okay, fashion is about the pictures, and a picture is worth, what, 500 words in this market?
