RANDOM: Why Air Drumming Is Way Cooler Than Air Guitar

Ok so growing up I was always drawn to the beat of songs. Maybe thats why I’m in a dance rock band or something. I can play the drums pretty well. I’m more of a guitarist but I have played some shows filling in for drummers that couldn’t show up or whatever. What I’m really fucking good at is AIR DRUMS. I remember growing up and putting on some of my old punk/ Rock/ Hardcore records like “Quicksand” (Slip) , “Nirvana” (Never mind) or even that second “Pearl Jam” record (VS) was fucking great (I know, leave me alone) , and just sitting on my bed and fucking air drumming for like 5 hours straight. To this day I’m always tapping on something at all times. I get all these weird looks at work because I’ll be on my computer all still listening to whatever in my ear phones and I’ll break out with this huge fucking drum roll out of no-where and everyone will just look at me like I’ve got tourettes or something. My Dad used to get so mad at me when we we’re in the car with each other cuz I would be AIR drumming the whole time. He’d be like “CAN YOU FUCKING STOP THAT? YOUR EMBARRASSING ME!! ALL THESE PEOPLE THAT ARE DRIVING BY US THINK YOUR RETARDED!!” I didn’t care. I would stop for a second then just start doing it again. My girlfriend gets scared when I drive because I’ll hold the wheel with my knee and drum the whole time. I think I almost killed us like 10 times. That shit is so fun though.

Now lets talk about why air guitar sucks. You can play air guitar and not even know how the hell to play guitar. I play guitar and wouldn’t be caught dead playing air guitar. It’s all about sticking your tongue out, jumping around and pretending like you know what your doing. Have you seen any of those “Air guitar championship” things? THEY ARE RIDICULOUS. I guess I feel there is just no possible way to look cool playing air guitar. It’s impossible. Maybe it’s just me. When I’m air drumming, people will watch me and be like “God damn dude! You are right on with that shit. I mean it really looks like you are actually playing the drums!!”. I just think it takes more “Skill” I guess. Then again I may not know what the hell I’m talking about. Just watch. Air drumming is going to be the new thing.
