RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Alexander McQueen Fall 2009As excepted, Alexander McQueen sent another jaw-dropping, show-stopping collection down the runways of Paris. McQueen’s Fall 2009 collection was a satire on fashion’s vast history, sending out models, with blow-up doll faces, wearing over-the-top versions of Dior’s famous houndstooth pattern and Chanel’s tweed suits. Umbrella headpieces, studded collars, wheel rims and saran wrap were among the bizarre accessories accompanying these enhanced, timeless pieces. Despite the entertainment, it’s hard to decide if this collection was an industry success. Although McQueen’s brilliant craftsmanship and silly, glamorous extravagance were admired, the designer didn’t push his envelope. We see crazy stuff from McQueen all the time. What makes this season any different?
