Alexander Wang’s fall 2009 collection reinstated his position as the “golden child” of the design family. Not only did Wang meet strict expectations when it comes to luxury and tailored structure, the designer also went above and beyond the call of style to produce an overall successful season of garments. Priced to sell, Wang, one of few recession triumphs, designed a safe and simple collection, throwing in his signature daring elements. Metal rivets, leather fringe, above the knee tights/shorts, chunky knits, and coordinated shoes and accessories were the elements that brought Wang’s impeccably tailored collection full circle. Need I say a New Yorker’s dream collection?
