RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Calvin Klein Fall 2009
Normally bored with Francisco Costa’s minimalist designs, the Calvin Klein Fall 2009 collection left me in awe over the brilliantly used asymmetry and texture. Costa played with the Calvin Klein typical sleek skirt-suit by adding asymmetrical collars, paneling, shoulder padding, and giving some volume to the pencil skirt. With more and more designers playing it safe to accommodate the recession, Costa did just the opposite, experimenting with surface treatments and texture. The result, several amazing gauzy felted-wool dresses. Mr. Risky even stepped away from the black motif (for a brief second) and threw in some bold yellow pieces! Here’s to Costa and the Calvin Klein label keeping the spirit of Evil Knievel!
