RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Isabel Marant Spring 2009
Someone paid attention to the trend report, because Isabel Marant’s Spring 2009 collection has all bases covered. From floral prints to denim and jumpsuits to boyfriend blazers, Marant’s line is a bohemian picnic of styles. As a Buffalo native, where I somehow manage to freeze at least 360 days of the year, Fall collections have always been my thing. But it’s designers like Isabel Marant who are turning the tables of my fashion preferences.
I’m loving the subtle hippie, Native American vibe this collection has going, but most of all, I really appreciate Marant’s use of black. I feel like many designers avoid the dark, winter associated colors, but those who pull it off deserve a round of applause. Marant’s collection is simple, yet detailed, and feminine, yet masculinely confident. Loving the ruffles. Loving the doily cutouts. Loving the splashes of Americana plaid. All in all, loving this collection.
