RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Kris Van Assche Fall 2009Why, hello there nonchalant elegance. Of the dozens of simple masculine collections launched for Fall 2009, Kris Van Assche takes the gold medal, and boy, does he run with it! Focused on the Van Assche usual blacks and whites, the Fall collection is basically an edgy man’s wardrobe shrunken and tailored to the woman’s body. Gold and silver military ribbons added a feminine and geometric accessory to the predominantly slouchy masculine line. Favorite pieces included the sheer military inspired button-downs, apron-esque silk panels, baggy gaucho pants and the raw, buttonless coats, blazers and vests. I am really intrigued by the makeup and hair choice for this show. It appears to me that makeup artists smeared some sort of mud mask above the cheekbones and into a slicked back ponytail. Whatever the technique may be, I LOVE IT. Definitely one of my favorite collections this season.
