RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Ralph Lauren S/S 2010

If you think you’re a Ralph Lauren fan, you haven’t met my mother. I promised to get her a front row seat one day, but had this been the show she attended, there would have been some major disappointment. In light of the recession, Lauren’s theme was centered around the early 20th century laborer. Think Dust Bowl- oversized, patchwork denim, vintage floral print dresses, newsboy hats. I understand that Lauren’s trademark is classics and basics, but honestly, we’ve seen this too many times before. It’s cute that the theme matches our nation’s current economic status, but do we have to be this literal?
