RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Tony Cohen Fall 2009

Last night’s Tony Cohen fall 2009 show had me wondering if it was real life or a flashback through fashion’s past. There is no doubt that Cohen played it safe, catering his feminine, cocktail glam pieces to the ordinary New York woman. Sadly enough, I was more intrigued by Fern Mallis dozing off in the front row than the looks on the runway!  Cohen barely pushed the boundaries, adding his version of edge with the overdone leather leggings, layered under dresses and blouses. As for classically sophisticated looks, Cohen produced some beautiful merino coats and saved the audience from absolute boredom with his closing piece, an asymmetrically layered black cocktail dress encompassing a variety of textures.
