Saggin’ and Baggin’

Though I haven’t exactly lost sleep contemplating this recent trend, I have given the saggy boyfriend-jean quite a bit of thought. With summer in mind, I snagged a pair of outlet bargain, light wash Ralph Lauren straight-leg jeans. Without trying them on, I blindly bought them and soon came to realize that they weren’t quite as tight-fitting as I expected. Now, I was never an advocate for the boyfriend jean look (frankly, I think they are pretty unflattering and oftentimes butch) but by sagging them, paired with an oversized tank top, layered jewelry and a pair of sandal stilettos, I was really impressed with the outfit.
While my boyfriend-jean epiphany might not change your mind, here’s some advice if you’re feeling a bit daring. I find that these baggy jeans look more feminine in a straight-leg light-wash, exposing the shape of your legs while giving an overall softer look. If you’ve got a feminine pair of sandals or flats, by all means, give them a shot…otherwise stick to heels! Boots tend to butch up the look. Oh, and if you’re going to sag, do it like you mean it! Sagging needs to look intentional otherwise people will think you took the opposite route of this girl and bought pants that were too big!
