If you were wondering why my posting has been sparse lately, it’s because I’ve been on a brief hiatus in the land of fruits and nuts: San Francisco, California. There’s nothing like 100% sunshine, 70 degree weather and a relaxed atmosphere to purge a girl of stress and exhaustion!
I spent the majority of my day yesterday on Haight Street, weaving in and out of vintage and thrift stores. But more exciting than the Stanford letterman jackets circa 1946 and the ridiculous vintage zoot suits was San Francisco’s abundance of taxidermy! From squirrel paw earrings to jarred baby sharks and boar heads to human tooth jewelry, numerous Haight shops carry wearable or displayable taxidermy pieces.
Out of the several taxidermy shops I checked out, my favorite was Loved to Death, a store that carries vintage clothing, old medical supplies and flowers (yes, there is a floral shop inside!) , on top of hundreds of amazing taxidermy pieces. If you get queasy easily or are pro-PETA, I would recommend steering clear of Loved to Death, but for those of you who are on the hunt for a muskrat skull necklace or some vintage prosthetic limbs, this place is totally for you!
Check out more from Loved to Death here!
