SPREAD UM: Corduroy Magazine’s Amputee Spread, June 2009
For any of you poor, unfortunate souls who had to sit through Lindsay Lohan’s “I Know Who Killed Me,” this spread, photographed by Bill Durgin, probably brought up some bad memories, no? Having a limb amputated is, by far, one of my greatest fears in life, but there is something so docile and ethereal about these edited bodies. Viewers are really drawn into the fashion because naked arms and legs aren’t around to upstage the simple, yet immensely detailed clothing. If I’m not mistaken, I believe the model is Make Me A Super-Model’s Shannon Pallay from season 1. Pallay does a fantastic job of positioning her body to show off the garments while exposing the fact that her limbs (which underwent some intense photoshop!) are long gone. Beautiful!
