SPREAD UM: “Dreamy” Vogue Italia May 2009

Vogue, Is that you? Okay, so it’s a Vogue Italia editorial, but it’s Vogue none the less! While there isn’t any nudity, hard drugs or crazy ridiculous fashion in this spread, the conservative, “play it safe” air that the magazine typically has is practically nonexistent. I really applaud how the soft, feminine laces and girlish pleated pinks are toned down by model Irina Lazareanu’s nonchalant, un-ladylike poses and messy hair, as well as photographer Miles Aldridge’s choice of trippy neon lighting. The clothes really stand out, making May’s Vogue Italia spread more successful in that aspect.
