I agree with Dan. The potential for bloggers to host their own photoshoots is very possible. The death of the glossy is slowly setting in, and in that case there will be a time of struggle for your big name photographers who aren’t willing to settle for blog space. I think as the glossy dies out you are going to see a whole new era of fashion photographers evolve along with blogs.

On a much less serious note, the Olsens should consider taking a Victoria Beckham approach…no smiles! She just doesn’t look right.

On that note, we are also in the process of creating out own spreads, with the help of one of our fave fashion magzines (won’t name it yet). So even if all the print mags die, Fashion Indie will still be here.

Hm. For me the death of print is more of a reality than a wish. I still have several subscriptions to fashion mags. I’m a fan of books in general, and there’s something special about having bound pages of images. Also, I think a big plus is that we draw from more than just the top fashion mags you see in line at the supermarket.

The one in this post, for example, could be really big in Canada, but I’d never know about it otherwise. We have editorials from major and independent American mags, their international editions (French Vogue, etc.) independent international mags, and digital magazines.

So just speaking for myself — I post some editorials based on uniqueness (smaller or foreign magazines), demand (popular models / celebs), and my own interest (my favorite celebs).

No big sinister plot here. Thanks for the threat?

Fashion Indie advocates for the death of the glossy. ALOT. But you contantly write about the photoshoots these magasnoozes publish. If the editorial shoot is gone are you bloggers gonna have enough dough to do “Bloggitorials” for yourselves? Otherwise death to the fashion photog. And death to you fashion indie.
