Style Icon: Veruschka
When the sixty’s rolled around, Veruschka was a woman on the move. Fleeing Germany, Veruschka thought she was leaving everything behind, but instead, she stumbled into an entirely new life. Before she knew it, Veruschka had walked head-on into a life of fashion, fame, and iconic character. With the blink of an eye, there it was, supermodel success. Veruschka has never failed to keep us biting at our fingertips; who was she about to inspire next? Just how many more Vogue covers was she going to be on? With her superstar stance and over the moon personality, Veruschka has made her way to be the subject of a monograph. The monograph is composed of occurrences throughout Veruschka’s life; photographs, interviews, and more. Veruschka was a woman with a creative mind. Though she was a model, this was no reason for her to be a clothes hanger; she created her own style because it was possible and more importantly, because it was a roaring inspiration. Everything Veruschka wore was representative of the time she fled; all out in the 60’s all of the time. Veruschka says of her fashion, “I was always being different types of women. I copied Ursula Andress, Brigitte Bardot, Greta Garbo. Then I got bored so I painted myself as an animal.”
