Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra wanted to turn back time. In their show notes, the design duo remarked that they were in a New York — 17 years ago — state of mind. The result was a bright, flouncy collection that evoked the spirit of the 90s while remaining classically feminine.

As their ‘zine ( a 90s concept in itself) would attest to, Vena Cava was enraptured by the 90s and translated that love to the runways. Cue the cut-outs, crop tops and long sleeve gowns for a hint of tough girl sex appeal.

I have a love/hate relationship with Chloë Sevigny‘s shoe collection for Opening Ceremony. Half of the collection brings back good memories of the 90s, and half reminds of the grungy, scary 90s.

90s Dance Party Time! Robin S’s “Show Me Love” was one of the best dance songs of the 90s (not to be confused with Robyn‘s “Show Me Love” which is equally amazing). Someone decided to remix it with Katy Perry‘s “California Gurls” and then fairy dust sprinkled down from the heavens and all was good with the world.This also proves that everyone does a Katy Perry song better than Katy Perry.

Aqua is back! In case you forgot, which you probably did, they had the 90s single Barbie Girl and….that’s about it. Their new song, Back To The 80s talks about everything they miss from the 80s (from Michael Jackson’s black skin to 7UP and Bananarama)…what I’m confused about is why a band that was was a one-hit-wonder in the late 90s/early 00s, is singing about the 80s? Sure, they were probably all born then (or maybe even earlier), but how can this be a comeback? If anything, they should be singing, “Back to 1997,” so that they could film another great video with their deep-voiced, spiked and bleach-haired lead singer and a plastic doll. Please, please don’t let this be an entrance for other terrible 90s bands, ie. Eiffel 65 and Ricky Martin, to make their comebacks…although I think it may be too late for that, with LFO already planning a comeback tour.
