26 Wicked Halloween Costume Ideas

You have to admit it’s a really big deal trying to pick out the perfect costume every year, no matter how old you are. With Halloween just around the corner I figured we’d throw some ideas here and there… so far here’s what I could think of…

Gary Graham Volumized for Fall With Layers and Textures

Inspired by Joseph Campbell’s book Hero with a Thousand Faces, Gary Graham divided the journey of the classic hero into three different phases: Departure, Initiation and Return. The garments from his fall/winter 2011 collection act as characters who subscribe to the journey through the phases. Models with black 80s rock’n'roll mullets walked through a crooked door into the hazy room and onto a homemade wooden plank covered in layers of wool-batik prints, hand knits reminiscent of Ukrainian shepherds and striped athletic socks. Garments were shown multiple times but presented with piles of different layers to demonstrate the versatility and wearability of the collection during a season when temperatures can be spastic.

Rihanna was rocking biker shorts clubbing last night out in London. Ok, Rihanna is a trend setter but I’m not sure how I feel about this 80′s throw-back. First of all I think her styling if off here, maybe peeking out of a lace dress or under some ripped and rolled jean shorts would work better. If you think you can pull this off, head to Shopbop. The H&M fall ’09 look book seems surprisingly high fashion. With a definite 80′s vibe, thick leather belts lace and fingerless gloves are accessorize the voluptuous shapes with a wide range of textures. Although not as bright and hip as Topshop’s fall selection, H&M seems to have stepped up their game this season. Check out the competition on cult – get ready to covet.

Crimes of Fashion Past: 80′s Hair

Taking a look at these photo I uncovered from the 1980′s, it’s not hard to see how there got to be a hole in the ozone by the early 90′s. Wow, there’s a whole lot of ugly going on. It looks like everyone of these ladies got stuck in front of a wind tunnel. How could anyone think this was a good idea? Oh well just another Crimes of Fashion Past!
