Also nominated from the acclaimed mini-series are fellow Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, Evan Rachel Wood and Mare Winningham — all vying for Outstanding Supporting Actress — Guy Pearce for Supporting Actor and Todd Haynes was recognized for his direction as well as his script.

- Noted Jew, Donna Karan, thinks John Galliano‘s anti-Semitic remarks were “”blown up out of proportion.”  Karan goes on to say that Galliano is “a wonderful designer, a brilliant designer, and he probably needs help and support right now.” Well, I already know of someone who’s on the help and support bandwagon. - Remember when Matthew Williamson said that Kate Middleton “isn’t a fashion bunny” and “I don’t know why everyone in fashion is waiting to see what she wears. I’m, like, thinking: get over it.” Well, turns out he was just “misquoted”: “I was referring to the fact that I’d been asked about her three times previously in the same night so it was more that I was over the fact that I’d been asked repeatedly about her. I’m setting the record straight: I’m a big fan and I’m sure she’ll make an amazing choice [for her wedding dress].” Yeah, that record is about as straight as Elton John‘s Oscar party. [Fashionista]

I’m not gonna lie, I’m actually looking forward to James and Anne. Hosting the Oscars is a thankless job; after all, you’re dealing with the biggest egos in the world in one room and kids and families watching at home around the world.

This ain’t gonna be Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes, kids.

On the bright side, both James and Anne were pretty good in their relative SNL hosting duties…and let’s face it, they’re both attractive enough to the point that whatever they say won’t really matter.

According to ABC‘s Nightline:

“Podiatrist Ali Sadrieh in Beverly Hills, Calif., performs the toe shortening procedure, which involves actually dislocating the toe and sawing out a 2-millimeter chunk of bone. He then inserts a titanium rod to bring the shortened bone back together.”

That doesn’t sound so bad, right?

Right?

And think of all the pain medication and the Louboutins you’ll get. But if that sounds a little extreme, you can always opt for the good old foot plump, wherein fat is liposuctioned out of your gut and injected into the sole of your foot to make walking in heels comfortable.  It’s a win-win!

Still, a third option involves sucking the baby fat out of your baby toe, thus slimming it down, which I’m seriously considering. I haven’t worn a shoe pain-free in years and it’s all because of this goddamned pinky toe.

Though these procedures could lead to “permanent nerve damage, infection, scarring, a recurrence of the deformity that was supposedly fixed and chronic pain when wearing not just high heels, but all shoes” etc, etc, blah-dee-fucking-blah.

I say it’s worth it. My motto has always been, “In fashion, if it don’t fit, you gotsta snip.” Sure I may have accidentally sent a friend or two the emergency room, but they thanked me. Or at least they will once they’re discharged.

ABC News correspondent Cynthia McFadden discusses the role of Coco with Shirley MacLaine.

Last night marked the world premier of Lifetime’s upcoming presentation, “Coco Chanel,” the story of the troubles and triumphs of an icon in fashion history. Joseph Urban Theatre housed the event, filling hundreds of seats with some of the fashion industry’s most crucial players.

As in any event, the evening kicked off with a social event for guests to eat, drink and be merry. Following the hors-d’oeuvres was an interview with ABC’s own Cynthia McFadden and Academy Award winning actress, Shirley MacLaine. MacLaine humorously commented on her experience playing the infamous cavalier, Coco Chanel, and left the guests in stitches over her farewell: “Goodnight, enjoy the bitch.”

The film itself was a bit of a letdown in comparison to MacLaine’s enchanting description of the role. The audience expected scenes filled with dazzling garments, couture fashion and the industry’s drama. What they got, however, was cliche love scenes in the snow, awful French accents and sappy quotes about determination. Sorry Coco, but I think what we wanted was a little more of your couture fashion and a little less of your relationship passion!

 On a lighter note, Shirley MacLaine performed phenomenally as the wicked fashion witch and stirred constant laughter with her sarcasm and believable arrogance.
